Artclub started as a monthly painting group, held in a kitchen in Bristol, back in the mid 00’s.

Joe kept the name and started using it as a header for his work as a session drummer and accidental musical director, after meeting an artist called Ellie Goulding on Myspace in 2009.

Max auditioned as a multi-instrumentalist for Ellie in 2010 and got the gig because he brought his own SM58, put it inside Joe’s bass drum, then side-chained his synth patch in the bridge of Starry Eyed.

Simon joined the touring band in 2012, bringing his encyclopaedic knowledge of music, love of fuzz and his ability to create custom Max4Live patches.

The three of them have played thousands of shows together and somehow remain friends.
